About Me
Hi, I’m Jemma – a Solution Focused Practitioner based in Bangor, Co. Down.
I support adults (all genders) and young people through one-to-one sessions and workshops, helping them navigate challenges, reconnect with their strengths, and move toward meaningful, lasting change. I use a Solution Focused approach, drawing on a range of techniques—including hypnotherapy—to create space for growth, confidence, and self-understanding.
The Journey to Hello Positivity
Hello Positivity began as a personal blog—my way of making sense of life’s ups and downs. I’ve always been someone who looks for the light, but I’ve faced my share of tough times too. Back then, I’d often turn to the internet in search of quotes or reflections that helped me feel less alone. Writing and sharing became my way of processing, and I soon realised that others were finding comfort there too.
Hello Positivity isn’t about toxic positivity. Life can be messy, painful, and unpredictable—and it’s okay to sit with that. But I also believe in the power of small shifts: moments of hope, sparks of confidence, glimmers of perspective. That’s what I aim to offer in my work. Not a quick fix, but a safe space where you can begin to feel more in control and more connected to your future.
My Approach
I combine solution-focused techniques with guided relaxation, practical mindset tools, and elements of therapeutic communication to create sessions that are tailored to you. Whether we’re working on confidence, stress, sleep, emotional regulation or self-belief, I’m here to walk alongside you at your pace.
Even as a practitioner, life still throws challenges my way. But the tools I’ve developed through this work help me move through difficult moments with more ease and resilience. That’s what I want to share with you—not perfection, but possibility.
A Bit More About Me
I love life, and I try to bring warmth, encouragement, and humour into everything I do. Whether I’m hyping up my clients, cheering on a friend, or celebrating everyday wins, being someone’s champion brings me real joy. I’m passionate about helping people reconnect with their strengths and take steps toward the future they want.
My Background
I hold an MSc in Therapeutic Communication and Counselling Skills from Ulster University, where I developed a strong foundation in person-centred and strengths-based approaches. I later trained at the Clifton Practice Belfast, completing a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, which is widely recognised as a gold standard in the field.
Alongside my clinical training, I’ve worked in the mental health charity sector, volunteered with the Samaritans, and trained as both a mindfulness practitioner for children and a safeTALK facilitator (supporting conversations around suicide awareness and prevention).
This varied experience has shaped the way I work—compassionate, collaborative, and always focused on what’s possible.
Why I Do This Work
The most rewarding part of my work is being part of someone’s journey—watching them begin to feel more empowered, more hopeful, and more connected to who they truly are. You are the expert in your own life. My role is to walk beside you, offering tools, encouragement, and support to help you take that next step forward.
If you’re ready to explore how we can work together, I’d love to hear from you.
